A nice cup of tea

It was snowing this morning. I woke up to a beautiful view of snow-covered streets, roofs, grass and the chilling air of the morning. The temperature maintained at 0°C throughout the day. The BBC weather centre forecast says that it'll be -2°C at midnight and snowfall is predicted at about 3am till sunrise. Further news about this snowfall in November was reported in the Daily Mail: Brrr-itain braced for arctic blizzards as it shivers in temperatures colder than Moscow. Brrrrr...

Nevertheless, I braved myself in the chilling autumn winds, (although it feels like winter is already here) and made my way to town to do some secret agendas. Hahaha.. Why secret? Because if I told you now, it would spoil the surprise.

I was at Eldon Square and went to look at some speciality teas at Whittard of Chelsea. When I think of tea, or whenever I'm sipping a nice hot cup of tea, I always remember my dad. My dad would brew a cup of tea for me every evening before he goes to bed. Most of the time it's peppermint tea, and he says it aids digestion and reduces bad breath. And so it has became a routine for me. A cup of tea beside my desktop while I'm busy concentrating on gaming, online surfing, chatting, etc.

I have to admit that sometimes I just fail to appreciate the little things that people do for me. Just like the cup of tea I use to have every night. Sometimes I just forget to drink it and pour it away the next day. And now, when I make my cup of tea, I'll always remember the goodness in tea. Its warmth, its soothing aroma, its health benefits, and most of all, the person who brewed the cup of tea for me. Thanks dad.

Alright, back to my shopping today. Oops, did I just say shopping? Well, I bought myself a box of tea. Not just any ordinary tea. It's THE tea that I love and THE tea that I've been looking for.

Genmaicha.

Or also known as wheat tea. When I first said wheat tea, mrBen thought I was doing grass, i.e. weed tea. LOL. Well, it's the tea I always get to drink when I go to a Korean or Japanese restaurant. Less common in Japanese restaurants because they'll serve you free green tea instead.

I took the box off the shelf and paid for it without a second thought. Hahaha.. It was like happiness in a box. Came back home and boiled water, shook the chill off my skin, sat right in front of the heater, and welcomed myself home to a nice hot cup of tea.

Yes, that's where you have the simple pleasures of life.

XOXO, shu
