Marriage
"A voluntary union for life of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others."
Illustrated in my mind (with some help):
As the rays of sunlight shine through the doors of the parisian church, the bride prepares to enter the hall filled with guests and relatives. In her most beautiful form, adorned with fresh flowers, she takes elegant steps down the aisle.
At this point, it flashes back to the time they first met (i.e. blunder encounter) and how, in the most unlikely situations, did they realise that they were fated for each other. As the film continues to roll, scenes of their first dates, their outings, their happy memories; are being replayed in a fast forwarded speed.
Greeted at the end are the bridegroom and the priest. The exchange of vows takes place: "To love unconditionally, and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, for sickness and health, until death do us part."
They exchange rings. The groom kisses the bride. And the guests are all in smiles and tears.
By watching movies, dramas, reading stories, witnessing real life events, I guess somewhere in every person's heart, there is a warm feeling when we imagine ourselves on our wedding day. It will be the happiest moment of our lives.
Fortunately, I won't be talking too much about marriage and it's formalities. Because unfortunately, marriage is a special form of contract that can be voided, either on death of one of the parties or by an order of nullity (i.e. divorce). Sad to see its definition "for life" does not always apply in these circumstances.
I've been listening to songs like Mei Li Zhi Zui and Gam Dong, which explains how emo I can become. *sobs*
